About 50 runners and bikers descended on the Gwydir Forest on Sunday, to take part in our joint Foot O and Bike O ‘Duathlon’ around the woods near the Nant BH outdoor centre (in Snowdonia). The weather was scorching and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Very sorry for the bit of mis-information, there was never going to be any bikes available to borrow, and I hope not too many were disappointed (we did manage to find one ‘spare’ bike).
Thanks very much to Anne & Colin for the Foot O course, and to Andrew and Sarah Barnwell for the Bike O course, and to the bike club for the burgers.
That’s our last planned event for now, but we’re looking at setting a few courses from the end of the school holidays, perhaps from Sep. We will be busy over the weekend of 22/23 Oct (running the Senior Home Internationals and a couple of Welsh League events). Hope all of you that can enter some of the Croeso 2016 (5-day) events (24 – 29 Jul 16) – we’ve been asked to help on Day 4 (Thu 28 Jul 16) so please let me know if you’re available.

Hello to all
There was a great turnout on thursday 2nd June for our last evening planned event so far. Colin and Anne Darlington put on an exciting/frustrating (delete where applicable) “Bingo” event, along with an Orange course for the traditionalists. There were a couple of full houses – well done Andy Allen, Tom Wood and Sarah Barnwell.
We’re next up at Gwydir Forest on sunday, for our dualthlon with Conwy Valley Bike Club. There are two sets of courses for Bike O and Foot O, where you can do one, or the other, or combine them into a duathlon. Come along and have some more map-based fun.
Details are on the events page.
Hope that you can make it.

Hello to all There were a couple of Eryri runners at the DEE evening event at Northop College last Thursday. Surprising how big and hilly the grounds were! Hope all enjoyed themselves. Our next summer event is on Thu 2 Jun 16, near Rhos on Sea, courtesy of Anne and Colin Darlington. Final details later. We also have a repeat of the successful Duathlon, Foot O and Bike O, in the Gwydyr Forest around the Nant BH Outdoor Education Centre near Betws-y-Coed on Sun 5 Jun 16. There will be bikes available. Final details later. Come along for one or other or both courses. Jim Wood and the Eryri Committee
Dee Orienteers have one of their summer series events in NE Wales on thursday. All welcome!
GR SJ 237689. Leave A55 Chester to Bangor Road at Northop exit. Follow ‘O’ signs from Northop Town Centre.

The next Eryri Orienteers Spring Score Event will be on May 5th. The same format as the night races but over open countryside. The area is around Moel Smytho and Moel Tryfan. An excellent opportunity for mountain marathon navigation practice.
All competitors on the score event will be required to carry a whistle and compass. You are strongly advised to wear complete leg cover to protect your legs from the heather and gorse. One extra rule for this score event. If you are more than 10 minutes over the hour you will lose half your points. This is to encourage people to get back on time as the daylight for collecting the controls in afterwards will be limited.
Mass start will be at 19:00.
